About Faith Journey Bible Study
“The Elisha Ministries Bible Study is a weekly gathering where we dig deep into God’s Word, apply it to our daily lives, and encourage one another in faith. Whether you’re new to Scripture or have studied for years, you’re welcome here.”
Be diligent to present yourself approved to God, a worker who does not need to be ashamed, rightly dividing the word of truth. 2 Tim 2:15
The Holy Spirit is one of the three persons of the Trinity, alongside the Father and the Son. He is described as God’s personal, animating presence, actively involved in creation and sustaining life. The term “Spirit” in Hebrew, ruakh, signifies God’s personal presence and energy, similar to wind or breath.
The Holy Spirit plays several important roles in the lives of believers, including regenerating them, teaching them the truth of God, guiding them in their daily walk, and comforting them in difficult times. Additionally, He convicts them of sin, intercedes for them, and produces spiritual fruit in their lives, such as love and peace.
The Holy Spirit is as much God as the Father and the Son, as seen in the Great Commission. Jesus said that believers are to be baptized “in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit”—all three Persons of the Godhead are equal and share one “name” (Matthew 28:19). As God, the Holy Spirit is to be obeyed, relied on, worshiped, and trusted.

“Heaven and earth will pass away, but my words will never pass away.”
The Bible speaks repeatedly and reverently about the importance of guarding God's Word—that is, holding it in high esteem, preserving its truth, obeying its commands, and defending it against distortion. Here are several key themes and Scriptures that emphasize this call:
1. Guarding God’s Word Means Treasuring It in the Heart
“I have hidden your word in my heart that I might not sin against you.” Psalm 119:11 (NIV)
This verse reflects the attitude of reverence and personal commitment. “Hiding” the Word means to internalize it—treasuring it deeply so that it shapes our thoughts, protects us from sin, and strengthens our walk with God.
2. Guarding God’s Word Requires Obedience and Faithfulness
“Be careful to obey all these words I command you today, so that you may fear the Lord your God.” Deut 6:24 (CSB)
“Do not add to what I command you and do not subtract from it, but keep the commands of the Lord your God that I give you.” Deuteronomy 4:2 (NIV)
Guarding God's Word means living it out—not altering or twisting it to suit cultural norms or personal preferences. It is a call to faithful obedience, respecting its full counsel.
3. Guarding God’s Word Involves Teaching and Passing It On
“Fix these words of mine in your hearts and minds… Teach them to your children, talking about them when you sit at home and when you walk along the road...” Deuteronomy 11:18–19 (NIV)
Part of guarding His Word is ensuring it is passed faithfully to the next generation. This includes instructing others, especially within the family, and living in a way that reflects its truth.
4. Guarding God’s Word Means Not Being Ashamed of It
“For I am not ashamed of the gospel, because it is the power of God that brings salvation to everyone who believes.” Romans 1:16 (NIV)
“Guard the good deposit that was entrusted to you—guard it with the help of the Holy Spirit who lives in us.”
— 2 Timothy 1:14 (NIV)
Paul urges Timothy—and all believers—to guard the gospel as a sacred trust. The Holy Spirit empowers us to defend the truth in a world that increasingly opposes it.
5. Guarding God's Word Is a Spiritual Responsibility
“Contend for the faith that was once for all entrusted to God’s holy people.”
Jude 1:3 (NIV)
“Watch your life and doctrine closely. Persevere in them, because if you do, you will save both yourself and your hearers.” 1 Timothy 4:16 (NIV)
Guarding the Word isn’t passive; it is active and vigilant. It includes discernment, defense against false doctrine, and a life that reflects the truth we proclaim.
6. Guarding God's Word Is a Mark of True Love and Discipleship
“Whoever has my commands and keeps them is the one who loves me.”
John 14:21 (NIV)
“If you hold to my teaching, you are really my disciples.” John 8:31 (NIV)
Jesus makes clear that genuine love for Him and true discipleship are demonstrated by guarding His Word through obedience and loyalty.

Human sexuality, encompassing all its physical, emotional, and spiritual dimensions, was conceived by God. He bestowed sexuality upon His human creations as a gift with two purposes: to sustain the human lineage and to forge a profound connection between husband and wife. The proper expression of sexuality enhances our understanding of intimacy with God; misusing it, however, undermines that intimacy and replaces God with sexuality. To grasp the biblical perspective on sexuality, we will explore its diverse nature one aspect at a time.Show More
